Motorola P40 smartphone: advantages and disadvantages

91mobiles portal and OnLeaks insider have published a rendering of the new Motorola P40 smartphone. Everyone noted the similarity of the previous model P30 with Apple iPhone X. What is the novelty ready to impress? And is the hype around its characteristics justified.

About Motorola

The name of the brand is well known in many countries. The fact is that at one time the company was one of the world leaders in the field of integrated telecommunications for a long time.

Having started its activities in the USA in 1928 as a family business, the company was transformed in 1943 into a public company under the Motorola trademark.

By the way, it was Motorola that released the world's first pager in 1956. And the first commercial portable cell phone, released in 1983, is also a credit to this company.

However, the heyday of the company lasted until the 2000s, after which a wave of losses forced the corporation to get rid of illiquid directions, so by 2011 the Motorola Mobility branch appeared. And after that, users did not see any bright models under the Motorola logo.

The situation began to change for the better after Motorola Mobility entered the Lenovo alliance. Noteworthy smartphones began to appear on the market. Motorola P40 will become such an expected novelty.

Device design

A monobrow or a more trendy drop recently - neither one nor the other will appear on the front of the smartphone. Manufacturers have announced the so-called "camera hole". It should be noted that such a design solution is no longer a breakthrough or a unique characteristic. After all, similar round windows for a selfie camera appeared at the end of December on Huawei Honor View 20 and nova 4 smartphones.

The dimensions of the gadget are 160.1 x 71.2 x 8.7 mm.

The case will presumably have a rounding in the corners, the material is glass.

Screen

Unlike its predecessors, the lower part of the screen (bottom bezel) is larger and the Motorola logo is placed on it. The screen will presumably feature a 6.2-inch diagonal with narrow bezels at the top and sides.

Expected display resolution: 1080 x 2310, aspect ratio 19.5: 9.

Cameras

The main camera will have a dual photo module. Manufacturers promise a 48MP camera and an additional 5MP. To improve the quality of shooting, a flash will be mounted, an autofocus function will be present.

The front camera located on the front side will receive 12 megapixels, which guarantees a high-quality result of how the Motorola P40 shoots.

Processor, memory, autonomy

On the internal filling, the information appeared in the first decade of January 2019: 4 or 6 GB of RAM and from 64 to 128 GB - permanent. Expand the memory to no more than 256 GB (using a memory card).

An 8-core processor, SoC Snapdragon 675 will be responsible for the performance. There is no information about the video processor at the moment.

Operating system: Android Pie

It is assumed that Motorola P40 will receive a built-in battery with a capacity of 4132 mAh.

Connectors and sensors

The popular method of unlocking the phone by applying the owner's finger will be implemented in this model. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back surface.

As for the connectors, the manufacturer does not seek to get away from the usual wired headset, so the 3.5 mm headphone output remains.

For charging and other connections, the USB Type-C connector is assumed.
