Vivo S6 smartphone review with main features

At the end of March, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo introduced a new product with support for 5G technology - the Vivo S6. Along with world famous brands, the gadget turned out to be quite solid, stylish, interesting, with excellent characteristics and cool cameras. We will analyze in detail the main characteristics of the device, note the advantages and disadvantages of the model, evaluate the availability and quality.

Vivo - some interesting facts

The company was founded in 2009. For 10 years, the quality and reliability of goods have raised the company to the top 5 world famous brands. Manufacturers allocate about 60 million euros annually for an advertising campaign. Smartphones have been known in Russia for only three years. Last year, Vivo sponsored the Russian football team Lokomotiv.

New from Vivo

The S6 5G smartphone was presented on March 31, 2020. On April 12, it is already on sale. In Russia, the model is expected to arrive in early summer 2020.

Design and appearance

Monoblock classic smartphone is made in a simple style. There are basic installation elements and built-in cameras. A phone with narrow metallic bezels and a thin black chin. The selfie camera is located at the top of the screen in the center, the U-shape of the cutout gives the model grace and accuracy. The block of main cameras, and there are four of them, is located on the back cover, in the center at the top. The shape is unusually round, slightly rises relative to the plane of the case. This does not interfere with the overall look of the smartphone. For symmetry in the circle, the fifth chamber is missing - instead, the manufacturer indicated the characteristics. Under the block is a two-tone LED flash, even lower - the Vivo brand logo, "lying", from bottom to top, with a 5G technology icon.

The dimensions of the device are as follows: height - 161.2mm, width - 74.7mm, thickness - 8.7mm. With such dimensions the device fits comfortably in the palm of an average size, it is comfortable to hold it in the hand during a telephone conversation and normal use. The device weighs only 181 grams. The thickness is sufficient to fit a capacious battery inside. The novelty will go on sale in three cool shades: Black Black, Blue and Blue and White / Blue. The double combination of color is due to the transition from a light shade to a darker, dense one, which is unusually stylish and beautiful.

The ends of the device are standard, functional. On the left, there is a slot for installing SIM cards: two of them, such as Nano-SIM, work in dual standby mode. You can also use one SIM, as it is convenient for the user. On the right side there are two long buttons: an on / off switch and a sound volume control key. The body is made of metal, the screen has a 5th generation Gorilla Glass protective glass. It protects the insides from water and splashes, but is prone to mechanical damage, scratches if the user is careless. A jack for a wired headset with a diameter of 3.5 mm, a microphone and a speaker, a charging connector are located on the lower side surface of the device.

Display

The appearance of the screen is compact due to the standard vertical-to-horizontal aspect ratio of 20: 9.100.1 cm2 usable working area and 6.44 inches diagonal. Resolution 1080 x 2400 pixels at 409 dots per inch. This density is due to the size and format of the output FullHD + video. Smartphone models with this format have an AMOLED type matrix. The thin bezels give the phone a screen-to-body ratio of 83.2%. Touch screen, reflects 16 million colors. The Multi-touch function during testing shows simultaneous touching with several fingers at once (up to 9 touches). The matrix is ​​considered active, organic diodes in it are light sources and each is illuminated separately. Black pixels remain unlit, so less energy is consumed.

Processor, memory, operating system

The model is equipped with an 8-core Octa-core processor with 2 + 6 architecture. Two Cortex-A77 cores operate at 2.2 GHz, the other six Cortex A55s are clocked at 1.8 GHz. The Exynos 980 chipset from Samsung operates on the 8 nm process technology and is responsible for the quantitative indicator of operations performed by the core simultaneously for 1 cycle. At the same time, CPU heating is minimal, and battery power is consumed more economically. The GPU Mali-G76 MP5 graphics accelerator from ARM Limited with five blocks is aimed at artificial intelligence of the system, at encoding and recording video in certain digital formats. With the help of Cortex cores, the computing process is faster, artificial intelligence functions when virtual assistants work - it recognizes speech, when cameras are working - shooting conditions, object identification, etc., optimizes the work of iron in general. The device practically does not heat up, the processor power is designed for games from the Play Market, which can be played at medium settings.

The device does not have a slot for installing an additional memory card. The manufacturer decided that the built-in memory is quite enough: with 8 GB of RAM, the internal hard drive is 128 and 256 GB. Both versions of the model will hit the market. UFS 2.1 storage is considered the fastest kind of storage for Android smartphones. The technology automatically connects at the right time and starts interacting with all parts of the internal system. Data reading and writing is carried out in two lanes simultaneously.

The manufacturer installed the new operating system Android 10.0 with the main applications and programs, together with the proprietary shell Funtouch 10.0. The latter is periodically updated. The shell decorates menu icons, desktop icons. The slightest touch on the screen smoothly scrolls the pages. Shell features:

The main camera block consists of 4 modules. The first lens is wide, with 48MP resolution, 1.8 aperture and PDAF auto focus.The second lens is 8 MP ultra wide with a viewing angle of more than 120 degrees. The third lens - 2 MP, allows you to shoot in macro mode. 4th lens - 2MP has a depth sensor, which is responsible for colors. Features include dual LED dual-tone flash, panorama mode and HDR. The 32MP front camera with a wide lens captures photos with high-quality HDR shooting. When photographing, images are obtained as clean, clear and detailed as possible. The output video of the main camera comes in two sizes: 2160 pixels / 30, 1080 pixels / 30 frames per second. Videos from the front camera are one size - 1080 pixels / 30 frames per second.

Technologies: wireless and wired

The built-in antennas of the device support all communication standards: 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE) and 5G. The 2G bands are designed to operate the phone with SIM 1 and SIM 2. The HSPA data transfer rate in the 4G system is 42.2 x 5.76 Mbps. One of the following navigation systems will help you find your way: GPS, with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS. For short distances, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, with a password-protected access point and Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth version 5.1. No radio antennas. An optical fingerprint sensor is integrated under the display, there is a mode for identifying the user by face. The model works with an accelerometer, proximity sensor. Gyroscope stabilizes images, compass indicates cardinal points. A flashlight turns on in the dark. The device does not have an NFC chip installed, so you can pay for goods at the checkout only if you have a bank card.

Battery

The non-removable Li-Po battery has a capacity of 4500 mAh. With such a battery, the device will work in active mode for 24 hours without recharging. There is a fast charging function and an 18W adapter.
