Motorola Moto E6 Play smartphone review with key features

In our article, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the Motorola Moto E6 Play model, consider its functionality, pros and cons.

A little about the company

Motorola has been known on the world market for a long time. It was this company that personified the advanced achievements of electronics in the twentieth century.

And the popularity of Motorola has earned thanks to achievements in various fields:

  • military developments;
  • space industry;
  • radio-electronic technologies;
  • production of cell phones.

The company has come a long way from making rectifiers in 1928 to the golden era of the 90s, when it introduced clamshell cell phones to the world. But now, Motorola has been taken over by the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo, which hopes to restore its former glory to cell phone makers.

Motorola Moto E6 Play

Camera

Quadruple main camera and main matrix with a resolution of 48 megapixels, this is not about Moto E6 Play. A single rear camera with a fairly average resolution of 13 megapixels today and phase detection autofocus. It's all. No extra wide cameras, no depth sensors or macro cameras. From this we can conclude that the target audience of this device is people who do not fundamentally care about the quality of the photos they receive. By and large, the camera for them is more a pleasant addition than a necessary tool for everyday use.

Structurally, the matrix is combined into one unit with an LED flash. The front camera, oddly enough, is present here. Its resolution is only 5 megapixels.

Let's add the following characteristic to the profile of the future owner: he doesn't like taking selfies. Make a video call or see if your hair is tousled, the camera is just right. But seriously, really, not all users need a top-class camera in their phone, and even more so not everyone is ready to pay for it. And Motorola's desire to cover this unassuming audience with its product is quite understandable.

Pros:
  • not found.
Minuses:
  • low matrix resolution.

Screen

Like all budget models of smartphones Moto E6 Play is equipped with an IPS-type matrix. Yielding in brightness and color saturation to AMOLED displays, IPS greatly benefits from the production price.

The 5.5-inch diagonal is optimal for both comfortable placement of the device in the hand and for viewing content.

The screen resolution is HD + and is 720 x 1440 pixels, with an aspect ratio of 18: 9. A rather outdated format, manufacturers are now striving to fit their displays to cinematic standards. But let's not be too picky, this smartphone is not created for watching movies. More precisely, you can watch the video on it, but moviegoers will cry bitter tears from the black bars on the screen. The display is not without frame, there is a space above and below the screen.

Pros:
  • not found.
Minuses:
  • outdated screen format.

Design

Style. This word can be used to describe the products manufactured by Motorola Corporation. But in this case, the stylish device can be called a stretch. Ordinary monoblock - the design couldn't be simpler. Only the logo on the rear panel, combined with a fingerprint scanner, remained from the style. The rest is standard.

The right side of the smartphone is given over to the volume rocker and the power button. The SIM card slot is located on the left side. The upper edge has sheltered a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

And on the bottom of the gadget there is a micro USB connector for charging the phone and transferring data. For the sake of low cost, the back cover is made of plastic. There are two colors - black and blue.

Pros:
  • the presence of a 3.5 mm jack.
Minuses:
  • plastic case;
  • outdated micro USB charging socket.

Filling

What do we have, a budget model? Then we will install a four-core Mediatek MT6739 processor. And so it will do! It doesn't matter that it is already made using an outdated 28 nm technology and is rather gluttonous in terms of power supply, the main thing is cheap.

Responsible for the graphics chip PowerVR GE8100. There are no performance claims at all. This hardware will cope with its duties, but you should not wait for something more.

Also forget about modern, resource-hungry games. RAM installed 2 GB, which is currently the minimum configuration. And the internal storage is installed at a whopping 32 GB, and moreover, it can be expanded by using memory cards. At least there was some concern for the user.

By the presence of sensors, there are only a position sensor, acceleration and GPS. There is no compass and NFC contactless payment module. External connection protocols - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.

Pros:
  • memory card slot.
Minuses:
  • weak processor and graphics core;
  • there is no compass and NFC module.

Autonomy

Everything is sad here. The device is supplied with a replaceable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. On the one hand, with a minimum technical configuration, electricity consumption should be reduced. But as noted above, a not very energy efficient processor will actively consume battery resources. Plus, the modest capacity of the latter suggests that it is better not to part with the charger for more than one day.

Needless to say, there can be no talk about wireless and fast charging functions. And normal charging is done through the outdated micro USB connector. Again, users will have to twist the plug in their hands, hoping to properly connect it to the device.

Pros:
  • replaceable battery.
Minuses:
  • low battery capacity;
  • there is no fast charging.

System

At the moment, smartphones with the Android 10 system are already being released, but Motorola decided to go the proven way. The ninth version of the operating system with a green robot has proven itself well in work, is well debugged and will be supported for a long time. So the operating system is fine.

Pros:
  • Android 9 system.
Minuses:
  • not found.

Price

Moto E6 Play has already hit the shelves in South America. In terms of the currency we understand, the cost of the device is about 110 euros. Whether it is a lot or a little is up to the buyers.

On the one hand, we have a quality brand and a recognizable trademark. On the other hand, mediocre characteristics raise doubts about the advisability of this purchase. For the same money, you can choose a less famous model, but with better performance, or find a similar smartphone, but cheaper.

The device will reach the countries of central Europe no earlier than mid-November. So potential buyers still have time to decide.

Output

A very ambiguous model from a world-renowned manufacturer. Scanty equipment is suitable only for very ascetic users. Young people are unlikely to choose such a device, it is too far behind all the trends of the last year.

In Russian reality, the target audience of this device can only imagine the older generation 60+, but taking into account the statistics, these people more often choose push-button phones. So the future of this device raises concerns, whether it is not in vain that it is even launched into production.

Perhaps it will be in demand in the poorest regions of the world, but as noted above, competitors are not asleep, and their devices are cheaper and more productive. The market and time will tell where the Moto E6 Play will take in history.
